START LOCATION: Deming, New Mexico
START HOTEL: Holiday Inn, Deming, New Mexico
FINISH LOCATION: Winnipeg, Manitoba
FINISH HOTEL: Canad Inn Polo Park
Ride commences on Friday August 30, 2013, in the lobby of the start hotel at 6:00 a.m.
Checkpoints located along the route must be visited during prescribed times that will be announced. Checkpoints for the 2013 tour are in Delta, Colorado; Valentine, Nebraska; and Bismarck, North Dakota
The tour finishes on Monday, September 2, 2013, In the lobby of the Canad Inn at 8:00 p.m.
Hotel arrangements in Deming and Winnipeg will be announced soon. A block of rooms will be reserved for TFC riders in those start and finish towns. For all mid-tour hotels, each rider is solely responsible for making his/her own lodging (or camping) arrangements. Riding distances for Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday of the tour are up to each rider, but all the checkpoints must be visited during the hours set by the committee.
While the checkpoint towns are logically-spaced, they are not meant to imply or force riders to lodge in those towns. Experienced TFC riders often take advantage of the early morning start of Friday and make that their longest day, selecting Saturday and Sunday as 500-mile days and tapering off on Monday. First-time riders are encouraged to visit the TFC forum and ask questions of the TFC committee and other experienced riders.
