August 2, 2013 - August 4, 2013
9:00 am - 5:00 pm
The first day of this ride is a qualifying SCMA Travelers Award make-up event. This annual South Coast BMW Riders Club ride will be offered August 2-4. Some riders will overnight on August 1 in Bakersfield. But that means Thursday night traffic through LA. Get up early Friday morning and blast to Bakersfield–that’s our advice. It is one of the most demanding and interesting weekend rides you will face in 2013. It begins in Bakersfield at Zingo’s Cafe at 9AM Friday morning, heads northeast to Walker Pass, east to US 395, and then laces all of the major mountain passes as it heads north to Lake Tahoe. A group ride, it includes spectacular views of the Sierras, Owens Valley, Yosemite and the western Sierra foothills.
On Friday it will be Bakersfield to overnight in Sonora (400 miles). Saturday will be Sonora to overnight in Bishop (500 miles). Sunday 300+ miles from Bishop to home.
This is a free, no frills ride. Show up before 9AM at Zingo’s, sign the South Coaster’s Release of Liability form and head for the hills with the group. It will be great fun.
