Post Safe place to stay in San Diego before B2B
on: March 21, 2014, 16:09

Greetings mighty Knowledgeable Ones.
I'm looking at doing the Border 2 Border starting at the South End North America and rolling North. Any good ideas for a safe place to stay near the Mexican border and knowledge about going out of the US into Mexico then right back up ?

Thanks
MJO

There is a nice Best Western Plus (Otay Valley) off of I-805 and Main Street. I would be cautious about staying at any hotels/motels in San Ysidro. I think there is a Best Western there, but cannot tell you anything about it.

San Ysidro is the major border crossing south of San Diego (I-5 dead ins there), however early mornings and afternoons you can count on at least a couple hour wait. If you go east on CA-905 there is a border crossing at Otay Mesa which isn't nearly as busy, and another east out CA-94, there is a border crossing at Tecate.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Elliot - The IB crowd suggested the Otay Mesa crossing as well.
