Post SCMA California Adventure Tour is a journey

😀

The SCMA California Adventure Tour is a journey 😀 of 24 unique locations of National Parks and Monuments found in the Golden State. The riders will have 12 months to complete the adventure.
The experience includes the contrast of "The Lava Beds National Park" of Siskiyou County at the northern most sites and the lighthouse at Cabrillo National Monument in San Diego County. The trip to Cabrillo National Monument will bring you to the earliest history of this great land. Most all of the touring riders have traveled under the canopy of the giant redwoods, but have we seen both alpine and coastal redwoods? Point Reyes National Seashore offers a taste of the northern California shore you might not see while visiting the San Francisco Maritime National Park or the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. The contrast to the shore will be to travel to Mojave National Preserve or Death Valley National Park, with the great openness and beauty.
Come and explore with the Passport to the Parks “The California National Parks Adventure Tour" by the Southern California Motorcycling Association.

Dennis,

Any chance of getting a link or list of all the State Parks a potential rider could review before committing to the ride? I think others would be interested in seeing the list to see if they can work it into their schedule.

This is a very late answer to Steve's question, but eParks.com can help. They also provide a link to a NPS web page where you can search parks by state:

http://www.nps.gov/findapark/index.htm

Interestingly they show 26 NPS sites in California. 😮

As many probably already know, the Iron Butt Association has a similar challenge in their National Parks Tour...50 parks visited, at least 1 park in at 25 states, in 12 calendar months. Their challenge is built around the NPS "Passport" booklet.

Which of the 26 listed on the NPS.gov website are not on the SCMA list of 24.
Thanks
Bill

Hey Dennis,

I got my passport the other day. Thank you. I am looking forward to riding to these 24 destinations this year. As I live in Georgia, I am starting my passport with Death Valley after riding from Jacksonville, FL to San Diego for the IBA's 50 CC. Thought I would get the hottest out of the way first while it is still cool. I will hopefully get to the other 23 when I finish the USA 4 Corners True X. I am hoping to ride this time without getting on the Interstate highway system; just going to ride US highways and state and local roads. When I finish in San Ysidro in July, it will be a good time to do the rest of the parks adventure ride. Hopefully, I will have enough time to get back home to Macon, GA before the 3FC in August.

Hope to see you somewhere along the way.

Sounds like you have some "cool" riding ahead of you, BP! Bagging Death Valley, Mojave and and the other desert destinations before summer is smart. Send me a PM if you are looking for some nice non-slab routes in central- and northern California.

Bagged Pinnacles last Saturday. I am telling you it is seriously DRY there. Looks like a bad August instead of February! Anyway, they have stamps at both the west and the east entrances. the stamp at the west entrance is still the old Pinnacles NM instead of the newer National Park, but it does have the date on it.

If you just want to grab a quick stamp and pic while riding up Hwy 101, the west entrance is perfect. However, if you want a much better road experience I recommend taking the extra time to ride up or down Hwy 25 and coming in by the east entrance. Hwy 25 is sort-of a go-to road for us in NorCal. Not as sweet as Hwy 33 down south out of Ojai, but still a really nice ride.
