Now that you’ve decided to ride the 2018 3FC to Calgary, Alberta you really owe it to yourself to seize the opportunity to explore the area and to take in all of the high points Calgary has to offer, including the spectacular mountain eye candy within an hours ride west of Calgary. Kananaskis Provincial Park! Banff National Park.

Explore the travel guide and plan on enjoying the sights while you’re there: https://user-hco5y0y.cld.bz/Official-Alberta-Travel-Planner

While watching weather if you have time consider the Edmonton, Jasper, Banff via icefields parkway loop. Love that ride and you won't forget it.

http://Www.visitcalgary.com and http://www.banfflakelouise.com are great sites if anyone want to find out more about the final stop and maybe spend a few days in the area.

DO NOT head home without amazing yourself with the nearby surroundings.

The Highwood Pass - is the highest paved pass in Canada. At Calgary's back door. Continue on to Banff/Canmore > on to the Bow Valley Parkway.

With any luck, and help from locals, our Finish team will have ride maps and info for you.
Maybe even GPS .GPX .GDB files to load up.
Please do spend a couple extra days.

Yes, unfortunately you will have missed the Calgary Stampede - The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth, July 6-15 2018

See: http://www.calgarystampede.com/stampede
So you will just have to make another trip back for that 10 days of city wide fun, mayhem & craziness.

Thank you for posting links. I would be passing through Banff and Lake Louise via Trans-Canada Hwy, stopping for the night in Kamloops. As I pass, are there any scenic side roads I can take along and quick stops to smell some roses, ya know? I will be leaving Calgary on the 5th, for my return back to Southern California.

Looking for some help from my local Canadian Bro’s.

Thanks Bruce. That is exactly what I had in my planner. Stay the night in Kelowna. Your post confirms the right choice

Sorry Bruce. IMHO I would take same route but don't turn down to Kelowna but rather continue to Kamloops to overnight, then head over to Cache Creek and down Hwy 1 through the canyon to Hope.
