Thanks for the information. I plan on heading north from SY on Sunday in June. I was thinking that the weeknd has to be better than M-F. Was thinking of heading N on 15 to 215 to 138 back to 5. Any thoughts?

You are correct. The weekend is MUCH better. If you are leaving on a Sunday morning, it will be light traffic through LA and all the way to Central California. The route you describe is a good route, but will probably take you a little longer.

Yep, weekends much better when in the cities. A thought about heading North out of SY. I'm in San Diego and when we head north we have gone up the 15/215 and pick up 395 North of Cajon Pass. This will take you all the way to Oregon and more. Its not the 5, 5-6 lanes at 80mph, but it is a good ride. You won't see the coast if thats what you are looking for, but an option. When I return from my 4C in Blain I will be coming home this route. Good luck, be safe!

395 is a great road. I've ridden it twice in 16 and 17. I was thinking of hitting either 5 or 99 north. Would 395 be a better choice? If so how much more time would 395 be then the other two?

I've done all 3, 5 &99 would be faster, but the scenery through the central valley is boring and often filled with unpleasant odor, agriculture stuff. the 395 would be more scenic, in my opinion, but take a little more time. You could always head up 395 and cut over after the central valley and make up a little time. So many roads, so little time!

How are the roads and traffic from Duluth, Sudbury to Montreal to Madawaska? Planning on CA 17/417. Any other thoughts?

In Canada 17 is primarily 2 lane (one each way), limited passing, once you are on 400 series they are the equivalent of interstate. Traffic Canada will depend on when planning. In shoulder season not bad off season but in summer or holiday weekends avoid Friday after noon as traffic will increase on both 400 and non highways.

A little on/off topic. I registered for the 19' FC tour, but am having trouble completing the ROL. It ststes the form needs to be printed in color so the red shows for legal reasons. I cannot find a ROL PDF on the site that has color in the file, so no red found. What am I missing?

I printed off the ROL pdf, signed it, notarized it and sent it in. No problems
