Get Your Kicks, It’s Route 66

Welcome to the Mother Road Adventure (MRA), you know, Route 66.  One of the most famous of roads in America!!  It is loaded with history, fun, and excellent motorcycling.  Experience some of the best American backroads have to offer.  It is easy to dream of days past making the journey from Chicago, Illinois to Santa Monica, California.

Mother Road Adventure

This tour will take you on the Mother Road, Route 66 and US Interstate 40.  The checkpoints will take you through selected places requiring you to ride most of The Mother Road from Start to the Mid-point and the Mid-point to the End.  A ride of Route 66 cannot see every known point of interest on the road; some are lost in the rubble of the old highway, some are ghost towns, some are on roads that don’t exist anymore or are dirt and uh there are just too many places.

This is a PHOTO TOUR.  It requires you to locate checkpoints provided to you and take a photo of yourself, your motorcycle showing its license plate and the checkpoint, a… selfie.  There are no secret or hidden places but you must locate them and take the best picture you can.

This adventure requires ELECTRONIC submission.  You will use your phone to document your adventure. Click on the Rules tab to find more information.

The Mother Road Adventure can be ridden in any direction you choose, the starting point is your choice.  You are not required to ride the Mother Road in checkpoint order, and the checkpoints as listed are NOT necessarily in sequence. You can start in the middle.  You can visit two points in one outing or many more than two depending on your schedule.  You have a calendar year to complete the tour.

Take your time here. This is a fantastic museum with several buildings to learn more about the history of the Mother Road. It’s easy to burn an hour or so.

At this checkpoint there is not a spot to get a photo of the barn that also has something stating Route 66. Instead, there is a pull-out on Route 66 directly across from the barn which is intended for viewing and a photo-op. Get a photo from here with the barn, your bike and yourself.
While you’re here, a mile away on Route 66 is Pops, a very popular stop on this section of Route 66. Here you can fill your tank, grab a bite at the diner, and pick a soda from the 1000 choices they have in stock.
