Roads Challenge Rules

In order to complete the Roads Challenge, you will need to submit your records for certification when you are done:

Select a Roads Challenge from Series A, B, C, and D.

Ride all of the 15 roads in the Series you selected in one calendar year.

  • You may ride the road sections in any order and in either direction.
  • The Roads Challenge includes riding your motorcycle the entire distances to and from home, and from one end of the road section listed to the other.
  • Document the start and finish of each road with a selfie and gas or store receipts.
  • The selfie would have you, your bike, and the highway number sign. If that becomes problematic a photo of your bike and the highway number sign, or your bike with a sign of an identifiable location such as a park, a fire station or a post office on that road will suffice.
  • If you choose to purchase an SCMA Roads Challenge Book to collect your stamps and photos, members can login to this site to purchase our Roads Challenge Book for $50 at the bottom of this page. There is a Login button and a Join button in the upper right corner of the menu visible on each page.  There is also a Click Here to Join button available on the  Membership link.
  • A gas receipt or store receipt should clearly show the date, time, and location at both ends of each road. The dates on the receipts must be the same or within 1 day.
  • In the event of a road closure, ride to the closure sign to take the photo and a starting receipt.
  • There are no time extensions for any reason, including weather, mechanical failures, accidents, illness, etc.

There are options for collecting and submitting your records that indicate you rode the selected series of roads:

  • You may choose to document each road in your Series with your selfie and photos of your receipts recorded in SpotWalla. You would email the link to the ride you created in SpotWalla records to the Ride Chair. The Ride Chair will be able to view the track of the ride and all the pictures that have been embedded. Refer to the Electronic Journaling page for more information about SpotWalla.
  • If you purchased the Roads Challenge Book you will be able to mail the completed book to the Ride Chair for review with all the stamps and photos.
  • You could also mail or email a ride log with copies of receipts and email a cloud link of the Roads Challenge selfie photos.

When you have completed the ride, members will be able to visit the Roads Challenge Certification tab on the SCMA website and request to have their ride completion certified.  We will announce when the certification process, including ordering swag, is ready later this year.

Certified Finishers will be invited to attend Finishers’ celebrations.
