USA Four Corners Tour® Rules

Please note there are two different USA Four Corner Tours: the “Regular” and the “True X”.  The cost is the same for either ride and you decide, at your start point, which ride you want to do. The Starter’s Package will contain the materials needed for either ride.  We will review your submitted package of either ride once we receive your Finisher’s Package and validate which ride was completed.  

USA FOUR CORNERS TOUR® (Regular)

  1. This is a self-directed motorcycle tour and the entire distance must be ridden on your motorcycle.

    1. Ferry rides are acceptable over rivers and lakes.

    2. Trikes, Slingshots, and motorcycles with sidecars, are considered motorcycles for this event.

    3. No other vehicles are permitted on any part of this event.

  2. You must be a member of the Southern California Motorcycling Association (SCMA).

  3. A signed and Witnessed Adult Release of Liability (ROL) Form must be received prior to your departure and remain in effect until you return from the Tour in order to be considered an eligible participant of this event. Mail the ROL to

  5. You have 21 days (or less) to ride your motorcycle (slingshot, sidecar, or trike) to these Four Corner cities of the United States using any route and sequence you desire;

    1. San Ysidro, CA

    2. Blaine, WA

    3. Madawaska, ME and

    4. Key West, FL

  6. There are no other checkpoints. SUBSTITUTES LOCATIONS ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE. (See “Hurricane” exception in #14 below)

  7. You do not have to return to the first corner to finish the event. The ride is approximately 7000 miles (depending on your route), not including your travel to the first corner and your ride home from your final corner.

  8. Your ride commences with the date and time indicated on your first gas receipt obtained at the four corners city from where you elect to start. The finish date and time, obtained at the final corner’s gas receipt, will be used to calculate the elapsed time of your journey. Regardless of the time zone on the receipt, the day will count as a full day.

  9. Within your starter’s package you will receive an embroidered towel with your registration number on it.

    1. Take a photograph of yourself with your motorcycle, your numbered registration towel with the respective USA Four Corner landmarks in the background.

    2. The ideal photo is a selfie (or photo taken by another) of you, bike, towel and landmark.

  10. Obtain a computer-generated gas receipt from a service station in each corner city. This receipt MUST include the CITY, DATE, and TIME you obtained fuel for your motorcycle.

    1. Write license plate number on the receipt

    2. If no stations are open, a receipt from an open store or nearest open gas station will be accepted.

    3. It is highly recommended you take a photo of each receipt as many of the receipts are printed on thermal paper and subject to fading.

  11. Complete each of the Corner forms included in the starter package at each Corner. Forms indicate your name, location, date, time, miles/kilometers, make, model, and license plate number of your motorcycle (or trike).

  12. MAIL these forms from home AFTER completing the ride. Return ALL forms, gas receipts from each corner, with the photographs of you and your motorcycle with numbered towel at a corner landmark.   13. No changes to these rules are authorized, except for Hurricanes when the state of Florida has the road to the Keys blocked. If that occurs you may use that barrier as the official location as the Key West Hurricane Corner and take the requisite photograph at that location.

  14. There are no time extensions given to anyone for repairs, flat tires, rain, cold, illness, etc.

  15. You have two calendar years in which to start the tour, but must complete the tour in the calendar year started within the 21 days.

USA FOUR CORNERS TOUR® “TRUE X”

This version of the USA Four Corners Tour® was introduced in 2011.  

The below rules for the True X version are in addition to the rules listed above for the regular tour.

  1. Ride your motorcycle from one of the Four Corners of the United States to the center of the USA at Lebanon, KS.

    1. Then, ride to one of the remaining three corners and back to Lebanon, KS.

    2. Ride to one of the two remaining corners and then back to Lebanon, Kansas, and

    3. Finally, ride to the fourth corner to complete the ride.

    4. Example:

      1. San Ysidro, CA to Lebanon, KS to

      2. Blaine, WA to Lebanon, KS to

      3. Madawaska, ME to Lebanon, KS; to

      4. Key West, FL (Finish)

  2. There are no other checkpoints. SUBSTITUTES LOCATIONS ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE. (See “Hurricane” exception in #22 below)

  3. Complete this ride in 26 days or less and become a USA Four Corners True X finisher.

  4. In addition to the photographs taken at each of the corners (with registration towel), you must take 3 photographs in Lebanon KS at the following locations. The perfect photo is a selfie (or one taken by another) one with you next to your bike, towel, and landmark.

    1. US Center Memorial (about 3 miles north of town)

    2. The gas station in Lebanon

    3. The US Post Office or the Community Center in Lebanon.

  5. Obtain a computer-generated gas receipt from a service station in each corner city and (3) gas receipts from Lebanon, KS. This receipt MUST include the CITY, DATE, and TIME you obtained fuel for your motorcycle. True X finishers will have (7) gas receipts.

  6. Complete the mailing/submission requirements indicated in steps 8 and 9 above.

  7. No changes to these rules are authorized, except for Hurricanes where the state of Florida has the road to the Keys blocked. If that occurs you may use that barrier as the Key West Hurricane Corner and photograph at that location.

If you finish the True X in 21 days or less your name will be displayed in Gold on the finisher’s list. Upon completion, you will receive a specially designed True X pin, towel, decal, patch, hat and plaque for this astounding accomplishment.  The ride is approximately 11,000 miles (depending on your route), not including your travel distance to the first corner and your ride home from the final corner. 

In order to have your ride approved by the committee, we must receive the following:

  1. Four (4) photographs (seven (7) photographs if True X) of your motorcycle (with registration towel) at any of the USA Four Corner landmarks showing your registration towel number. The perfect photo is a one with you next to your bike, towel, and landmark.

  2. Four (4) computer-generated gas receipts (seven (7) receipts if True X) from a service station in each corner city or Lebanon, Kansas, if doing the TRUE X. These receipts MUST include the CITY, DATE, and TIME you obtained fuel for your motorcycle.

  3. The completed Corner forms included in the starter package for each Corner and Lebanon, Kansas; if doing the TRUE X. Forms indicate your name, location, date, time, miles/kilometers, make, model, and license plate number of your motorcycle (or trike).

  4. These should be mailed as a complete package when you return from the tour to:

Riders successfully having their ride approved will receive a Finisher’s Patch, Four Corners Decal, and a personalized plaque documenting their completion of the ride.

Upon validation, TRUE X Finishers will receive a specially designed True X pin, towel, hat, decal, and plaque for this astounding accomplishment. 

The USA Four Corners Tour is truly a world-class event.  Be one of the less than 200 people a year to complete this ride.

NOTE 1:  You must become an SCMA member to register for this ride and you must submit a Release of Liability Form – SCMA USA Four Corners USA, to receive a starter’s package.

NOTE 2:  The rider’s starter package includes; rules, checklist, four corner maps, personalized registration towel, SCMA towel clips, a Four Corners pin and hat.

NOTE 3:  Side-cars and trikes (including Slingshot) qualify for this ride.
